The Sunday Letter Project

The Wandering Albatross is an official Letter-Keeper for The Sunday Letter Project - a worldwide writing initiative with a pen-pan network where writers correspond shop to shop, keeping their home addresses private. 

As part of the Sunday Letters Project, I’ll receive introductory letters from people around the world looking for pen pals. The letters will be on display in the shop, and if one catches your eye, you can choose to write back.

You can also send your own introductory letter to a Letter-Keeper somewhere in the world. Choose a place from the Letter Keeper map, or come into the shop and I’ll help you find one.

Replies will be kept unopened at the shop until you come to collect them, so you don't need to share your home address or any other personal details.

As a serious postcard addict who loves getting postcards from friends and customers all over the world, I can't wait to see where the letters come from. I hope our local community will enjoy taking part in this project!

In a world dominated by technology, The Sunday Letter Project is a weekly invitation to balance. To recalibrate, reconnect, and return home. We believe that letter-writing is the perfect antidote to this generation’s dependence on screens - it allows you to slip back into a time where the world felt less frantic and more spacious.

By signing up for the project, you will be invited to take a pledge: a pledge to take a pocket of time each Sunday and dedicate it to yourself and your loved ones. To write, ponder and savour. To regenerate a practice that has connected humans for generations and is starting to be lost. We believe letter writing is a unique way that we can find our way home as humans, and we invite you to join us.

You can write to anyone you like. Someone you love, a stranger, a friend. A pen-pal, through our Letter-Keeper network - it’s totally up to you. It just has to be words on a page, every Sunday.
